| Run 4 The Pies: A way to help needy families |
For the third year in a row, The Episcopal Church of the Good
Shepherd is honored to be a part of The Run 4 the Pies road race
held on Thanksgiving Day. Three years ago this meant having a
few parishioners pass out water on this Thanksgiving Day Run.
Why not? The race begins and ends right outside our doors…
Last year we got involved in a more substantial way. The church
partnered with Palm Beach Road Runners and the Village of
Tequesta to collect food for the hungry. It was a new thing…. The
race had never done it before. Along with an internal church wide
food drive we collected about a ton of food.
Food for Families
This year we are doing it again. We are encouraging runners to
lose 4 pounds this thanksgiving. They can do that by bringing 4
pounds of food and dropping it off at race registration. Our
suggested food list can be viewed and printed by clicking here.
Like last year, a minor portion of your donation will be added to
our food pantry here at the church. The major portion will be
shared with CROS Ministries Food Pantries. Last year CROS gave
emergency food to about 50,000 people. This year more are in
need. You can help… We can help.
